The Glenturret, which calls itself Scotland’s oldest working distillery and won 'Distiller of the Year' in the 2022 Icons of Whisky Scottish regional awards, has launched a new limited-edition single malt: Manager’s Dram (53% ABV). Created by distillery manager Ian Renwick, this inaugural, annual release is limited to just 500 bottles, all of which are hand-numbered; further releases will be launched each year.
Drawing on his 25 years’ experience at The Glenturret, Renwick explained that “the change in ownership at The Glenturret in 2019 has allowed us to concentrate on our whiskies as a single malt in its own right; since then, I have been working much closer to the whisky maturing in the warehouse. When I was asked to create this whisky, I jumped at the chance – it was an opportunity for me to take the next step and further develop my skills. I have really enjoyed the process and cannot wait to start working on next year’s expression!”
Manager’s Dram was matured in three American and European sherry casks. Renwick continued, “It is no secret at the distillery that I like a peated whisky, a ‘sweet peat’ in particular. I was heavily involved when we started producing peated spirit back in 2009 and, for me, it was an important quality to include in Manager’s Dram. The long fermentation and slow distillation produce a sweet peated, delicate spirit full of citrus, orange and toffee apple notes.”
Manager’s Dram is available now exclusively from The Glenturret’s gift shop and online store for £145.00 per bottle.
