The collection comprises six limited edition bottles, with each featuring an original illustrative design which represents a different decade, as well as various extracts of Bond scripts.
The first showcases a drawing of the jet pack from Thunderball,, while the second and third feature extracts from Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only respectively. The fourth decade bottle includes a conversation between Bond and Xenia Onotopp from Goldeneye, while the fifth and sixth both honour Daniel Craig-era bond films Casino Royale and Skyfall.
The relationship between The Macallan and Bond continues to grow stronger, with the brand often the agent’s drink of choice, including a Macallan Fine & Rare 1962 appearance in Skyfall.
Bottled at 43.7%, the producer has described the James Bond 60th Anniversary Release as having aromas of lemon, lime and a sprinkle of sherbet, with notes of orange zest and fizzy sherbet on the palate. Its finish is described as long and sweet with complex layers.
Global creative director, Jaume Ferras, said: “This October, James Bond will celebrate its 60th anniversary, making it the longest running and one of the most loved franchises in the world of entertainment, comprising 25 films over six decades and six lead actors over time. The Macallan is James Bond’s whisky of choice and as two renowned global brands, we share many synergies, most notably as modern innovators linked by our Scottish heritage.”
Along with this collection, The Macallan has also created a series of experiences to celebrate Bond’s anniversary, including a unique exhibition titled The Macallan in Cinema. Located at the Macallan Estate, the immersive exhibition is said to transport viewers through a history of Bond in film, with a series of exclusive screenings.
Edrington Global Travel Retail’s regional managing director, Jeremy Speirs, added: “The Macallan’s partnership with the James Bond franchise brings together two Scottish icons in what must surely be one of our most high-profile and exciting collaborations to date. James Bond’s worldwide appeal will undoubtedly make this new collection one of our most sought-after launches, further strengthening The Macallan’s reputation in travel retail for exclusivity and collectability.”
