As part of The One collection of whiskies, The Lakes Distillery has announced the release of two new expressions; The One Orange Wine Cask Finished Whisky and The One Sherry Cask Finished Whisky.
At the heart of these whiskies you will find The Lakes Single Malt, providing a base from which The One collection is able to provide a showcase of maturation expertise.
The One Orange Wine Cask Finished Whisky has been finished in first-fill American oak casks, then seasoned with Vino de Naranja, which is made soley in Huelva, Andalusia. The wine itself is produced in small quantities and, more often than not, for personal consumption. The release is limited to only 2,994 bottles.
The One Sherry Cask Finished Whisky provides a more intense flavour thanks to the heavy influence of Spanish oak characters, after being finished in PX and Oloroso casks.The release is limited to 4,512 bottles.
The Lakes Distillery whiskymaker, Dhavall Gandhi, said: “To appreciate the art of whisky making you must first understand that flavour is created throughout the whisky making process. For The Lakes Whisky, it is the art of blending and the interaction between the spirit, air and oak which creates the layers of complexity and character.
“The oak type and the liquid used to season that oak add their personalities as they integrate with the whisky. Working in combination they produce a myriad of flavour combinations, which is precisely what The One collection seeks to reveal.”
Bottled at 46.6% ABV, The One Orange Wine Cask Finished Whisky and The One Sherry Cask Finished Whisky both have a recommended retail price of £48 and are available from www.LakesDistillery.com.
