Tomatin is adding a new sherried single malt Scotch whisky to its core range.
The 12 Years Old Sherry Cask has been fully matured in its namesake casks and bottled at 40% ABV. It has been designed as an evolution of the Highland distillery's classic 12 Years Old single malt.
Tasting notes supplied by the distillery say the sherry cask-matured expression has notes of orchard and dried fruits, orange peel, sweet cinnamon, nuts, and manuka honey.
The release also sees the debut of a new outer packaging design for Tomatin, a scarlet box embossed with gold foil accents.
“The global demand for well-matured sherried malts, particularly in markets like Asia, has inspired this latest addition to our core range,” explained Scott Adamson, blender and global brand ambassador at Tomatin Distillery.
“For over a century, Tomatin has featured sherry casks in our maturation process, and this new release stands as the next evolution of this tradition.
“Our 12 Year Old Sherry Cask captures the essence of our renowned 12 Year Old, enhancing its signature smoothness and focusing its aromatic profile to create a sherry cask whisky with a depth of flavour that is luxuriously indulgent.”
It joins a diverse range of core expressions from Tomatin including the Dualchas, matured in ex-bourbon and virgin American oak, the Cask Strength, matured in bourbon and sherry casks, and further age-statement whiskies at 14 and 18 years old.
