Tomintoul Seiridh – pronounced 'sheh-ree' and meaning 'sherry' in Scottish Gaelic – has been matured in American oak Bourbon casks from Kentucky and finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts from Andalucia, Spain, producing a rich and full-flavoured single malt.
Batch One of the limited-edition expression, which has been bottled at 40% ABV, has 6,000 individually numbered bottles available. Tasting notes supplied by Tomintoul Distillery say the Seiridh has aromas of 'butterscotch, pecan and sultanas, with flavours of dried figs, Christmas cake and cedar spice on the palate and a long, warm, nutty finish.'
Tomintoul Distillery's master distiller, Robert Fleming, said: "I personally selected the finest Oloroso sherry buts from an old family-owned bodega in Jerez to expertly finish our wonderful Tomintoul single malt. Tomintoul Seiridh is a delightfully smooth and complex whisky, which is heavily influenced by rich Christmas cake and spice flavours."
Tomintoul Distillery, which sits within the Cairngorms National Park, is owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.
