In creating its new single malt, the Irish distillery was inspired by the terroir-focused winemaking process of Bordeaux, where several individual wines are made before being combined into the ‘Grand Vin’.
The distillery says The Cuvée exhibits notes from red apples and green foliage to digestive biscuits and mint, with a distinctly oily, textured palate and extraordinary length of flavour.
According to Waterford CEO, this single-malt project was seven years in the making: “...the result is our vision of how to create the most complex and profound single malt possible.”
Bottled at 50% ABV in Waterford’s characteristic blue, the whisky bears a label by Irish artist Leah Hewson.
The Cuvée is distributed exclusively in the UK by Specialty Brands.
