At a time when most of us are staying in, Cardrona Distillery is looking outward with the UK release of two new expressions of its Just Hatched single malt.

The two limited-edition single cask expressions are both drawn from 2016 stocks at the distillery in New Zealand's Southern Alps: one ex-Mt Difficulty pinot noir barrique and one ex-Old Forester Bourbon barrel.

Cardrona Distillery CEO Desiree Whitaker said: "Just Hatched has proven really popular amongst discerning whisky lovers to date, so we are therefore thrilled to release very limited quantities of these two new expressions into the UK market. So far they have been equally popular, selling out in New Zealand in just three days. We hope they spark the same excitement and enjoyment in the UK."

According to tasting notes supplied by the distillery, the Cardrona Single Malt Whisky Mt Difficulty Pinot Noir Aged (65.8% ABV) has notes of Black Doris plum, almond, toffee and spice, while the Cardrona Single Malt Whisky Bourbon Aged (64.2% ABV) is said to have notes of crème brûlée and borage flower honey.

Both are available in 350ml bottles, priced at £75, from The Whisky Exchange, Master of Malt or directly from the distillery on its website.
