The latest annual edition of the Whisky Magazine Editor's Blend has been revealed. The Editor's Blend 2024 Sweet and Spicy is the seventh release in the series.
Each Editor's Blend release is made up of more than 1,500 whiskies which were entered into the World Whiskies Awards 2024, drawing its final flavour from styles from around the world. The 2024 edition was bottled at the English Distillery, which earlier this year was awarded World's Best Single Malt for its Sherry Cask expression.
The final recipe contains 22 per cent bourbon and rye, 7 per cent peated single malt, 15 per cent blended Irish whiskey, 17 per cent Scotch single malt, 27 per cent Scotch blended whisky, and 12 per cent world blended whisky. Just 195 bottles will be released worldwide, and all the profits from the production will be donated to charity.
The flavours in the release reflect its 'Sweet and Spicy' name. The nose has notes of cherry and almond, with Christmas cake and a hint of clementine. The palate brings cinnamon toast, apples and pears, roasted marshmallows, and smoke. A soft, medium finish lingers with plum and nectarine followed by ground ginger and nutmeg.
The Whisky Magazine Editor's Blend 2024 Sweet and Spicy is bottled at 46.2% and available now at RRP £85. To purchase this limited-edition blend, visit Royal Mile Whiskies.
The Editor's Blend was unveiled by Bradley Weir, the newly appointed incoming editor of Whisky Magazine. He commented: "Working on this year's Editor's Blend was a real treat. Getting the right mix of whiskies together, to make this work, was the hard part. The easy part was taking a sip and realising we had made something quite extraordinary. It's managed to find a good balance despite its complexity, and the name 'Sweet and Spicy' is certainly earned, as I hope you'll all find out for yourselves when buying a bottle…"

Bradley joined Whisky Magazine in 2022 as tastings coordinator, and became its interim deputy editor earlier in 2024. He is currently interim editor of Whisky Magazine's sister publication American Whiskey, and will take up the mantle of Whisky Magazine editor from January 2025.
Speaking on his new appointment, Bradley commented: "I am very excited to be taking over the role of editor for this great magazine. I have been working closely with the previous editors as part of the editorial team for the last two years, but I am raring to go with all of the added responsibility and opportunities that occur in a position like this.
"To all of our dedicated readers over the years, I promise to keep up the high quality you've come to expect with the same measure of consistency. I also hope to bring some new ideas to the table that I think long-term readers and newcomers alike will find entertaining and refreshing."
