Derbyshire's White Peak Distillery has released a cask strength edition of its Caduro whisky to its Wire Works range.
The limited-edition release was initially matured in a combination of first-fill ex-bourbon casks and STR casks (the distillery's signature; re-conditioned wine casks that have been shaved, toasted, and re-charred). The spirit from the two cask types then marries for 18 months.
The new expression is bottled at a cask strength of 58% ABV. The distillery says the whisky has notes of pear drops, banana, marmalade, treacle tart, bonfire toffee, and cinnamon, with a hint of smoke.
Claire Vaughan, co-founder at White Peak, said: “It’s exciting for us to reveal a cask strength version of one of our signature whiskies. We’ve pushed our house flavour profile with this cask strength spirit, amplifying the fruit notes found in our main Caduro release to bring out more richness, complexity and depth of flavour and allowing the drinker the ability to find their own sweet spot. As with all of our Wire Works whiskies, nothing has been added during the process and there has been no chill-filtration.”
The original Caduro release was the first permanent resident in the Wire Works core range, launched in 2023. It was the first whisky from the brand to be available for refills: those who bring back empty Caduro bottles to White Peak can refill their bottle at a discounted price.
Caduro Cask Strength also has a first for the brand — the whisky is available in a recyclable presentation box, aimed at gifters preparing for the holidays.
Caduro Cask Strength is available from 1 November via the distillery and select retailers at RRP £79.
