Woven Whisky has announced its latest blended bottling: Experience N.20, Friends in the North.
The limited-edition release explores the Nordic whisky landscape, reflecting the journey by Peter Allison, Woven’s whisky maker, as he discovered the whisky scene across Finland, Sweden, and Norway. The resulting ‘Experience’ includes spirits sourced from Kyrö in Finland, High Coast and Agitator in Sweden, and Feddie Ocean Distillery in Norway.
Through its “minimal” blending style, Woven aims to highlight different elements of Nordic whisky production in its release. The blended house says that Friends in the North has “smoky rye bread” notes from Kyrö’s rye, and citrus from the unpeated High Coast whisky, which Agitastor’s spirit “provides depth” and Feddie Ocean gives smokiness from the ex-Islay whisky casks it uses for maturation.
The four Nordic whiskies are blended with a single grain whisky sourced from the North British Distillery, a “buttery backbone” to the final blend.
Allison explained: “We wanted to create something that truly represents the vibrancy and creativity we encountered in the Nordic whisky scene. Each distillery brought not just its own techniques and geographical quirks to the table, but also a human dimension. Passionate people, forged by their unique culture, producing whiskies that speak of them and the place in which they operate. Friends in the North is our way of sharing those stories with the world.”
Friends of the North (47% ABV) will be available from Woven Whisky at RRP £75.
