Auchroisk Distillery was constructed in 1972 at the site of Dorie's Well, with production beginning in 1974. Initially it was intended to produce whisky for the Justerini & Brooks blend.
Auchroisk Distillery produced its first single malt in 1978, 'Auchroisk', although it was rebranded as 'The Singleton' in 1986 because it was perceived as too difficult for consumers outside of Scotland.
The name was changed back in 2001, as part of the Diageo Flora and Fauna range. Further to this, the name was changed again to 'The Singleton of Auchroisk.'
The name of the distillery means 'shallow ford across the red steam' in Gaelic, referencing the nearby Mulben Burn.Show more
