Cardhu Distillery was founded in 1824 by John Cumming, whose family looked after the distillery until it was purchased by John Walker & Sons in 1893. Since then, Cardhu Distillery as long been the brand home of Johnnie Walker.
Between 1908 and 1981 the distillery was named Cardow, before its name changed to its current form, Cardhu. The name in Gaelic means Black Rock.

visitor centre was construction in 1998. In 2003, parent company Diageo courted controversy by halting production of Cardhu single malt and replacing it with a 'pure malt'. Cardhu Distillery returned to producing single malts in 2006.Show more
