For a company with the reach of Chivas Brothers, it may seem odd that its origins trace back to Aberdeen in 1801, at the founding of a grocery store, serving luxury foodstuffs.
Its fortunes quickly rose, and in 1843 Chivas Brothers was granted a Royal Warrant to supply good to Queen Victoria.
The firm's first blended Scotch was Royal Glen Dee, although it is perhaps most known for
Chivas Regal, which was created to feed the boom in demand for luxury goods in the US.
In 1950, Chivas Brothers acquired the Strathisla Distillery, which produces the single malt whisky used in the Chivas Regal blend.
Pernod Ricard owns the brand today and has done since 2000.Show more
