A D Rattray was founded in 1868 by Andrew Dewar Rattray and began by trading as an importer of French wines, Italian spirits and olive oils. Alongside this however, the company was firmly establishing a reputation for blending and storing malt and grain whiskies, representing a number of Highland distilleries, including Stronachie.
A D Rattray ownership has changed hands since the 1860s, however,
today it is owned by a fourth generation descendent of Andrew Dewar, Tim Morrison, previously of Morrison Bowmore Distillers.
The company's resurgence began in 2002, with the bottling of a 'new' Stronachie 12 Years Old, and 2004 saw the release of the A D Rattray Cask Collection.
In 2011 Morrison opened the A D Rattray Whisky Experience and Whisky Shop in the old village school in Kirkoswald, Ayrshire, offering an independent whisky experience for everyone from the beginner to the connoisseur.Show more
