In the late 19th Century, the Warenghem family, with its patriarch Léon set up on the banks of the Léguer at Lannion. Léon created the distillery and its first product, Élixir d'Armorique, a liqueur.
A family business, Léon's son, Henri, took over in 1919 and his son, Paul-Henri, took over in partnership with an Yves Leizour in 1967. They moved site from
the centre of Lannion to its outskirts, where it has access to the Rest Avel spring and its clear waters.
The idea that revolutionised Warenghem Distillery came under Gilles Leizour, with the creation of the first Breton whisky in 1987, a blend. The first single malt followed in 1998, with the Armorik. With Brittany sharing a Celtic culture and climate, it is in many ways an ideal location to produce whisky.Show more
