Founded in 1898 by a former manager of Glenfarclas distillery, Glen Elgin was built and designed by the notable distillery architect Charles Doig right before the bottom fell out of the Scotch whisky industry in the 1900s. Doig prophesied Glen Elgin would be the last one built in Speyside for 50 years. His prediction was remarkably accurate with Tormore being the next distillery built, in 1958.
Much loved by blenders, Glen Elgin was for years most often tasted in the blended Scotch, White Horse. This Speyside now resides in the Diageo stable.Show more
