Actually a distillery complex where the Old Midleton Distillery (est 1825) sits side by side with The New Midleton Distillery (est 1966).
The Old Midleton distillery, was coverted from a mill in 1825, and today is home of the visitors centre called the Jameson Experience. In 1966, John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son and the Cork Distilleries Company (which owned the Old Midleton distillery)
merged to form the Irish Distillers Group. The board of the newly formed company decided to close their existing distilleries and consolidate all production at a new facility. This was built at Midleton as it was the only existing site with room for expansion.
Today, it is one of the moset modern distilleries in the world, and the home of Jameson Irish whiskey as well as Redbreast, Powers and the Spot whiskeys.Show more
