Founded out of an old mill in 1895 by blender Peter Mackenzie in partnership with Richard Stackpole and John Symon. Dufftown's exports were crippled during Prohibition and the distillery was sold to blender Arthur Bell.
Currently, Dufftown is the largest producer of all Diageo’s whisky distilleries and as much as 98 per cent of this is used in blends, notably, Bells, of which it
is the largest single constituent malt whisky.
In 2006 a 12 year-old single malt called The Singleton of Dufftown was launched in Europe, replacing the old 15 year-old Flora and Fauna bottling as the only officially-bottled release from the distillery. Independent bottlings are relatively rare.Show more
