Whisky Luxe expands in Taiwan

In a fast growing market, Whisky Luxe continues to lead the way. Taiwan has become an important player in the global whisky market. Consumption of malt Scotch in Taiwan increased at around 5 per cent per annum from 2011 to 2013 (Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015), and in 2012 Taiwan surpassed France, becoming the second largest consuming nation after the US. Trends show that delicate, rare, high quality and high value whisky malt Scotch has become the mainstream in Taiwan. Consumers have a very positive attitude towards whisky tasting and abundant whisky knowledge, reflecting the maturation of the Taiwan whisky market.

Huang Pei-Chun (Eric Huang), editor in chief of Whisky Magazine Taiwan and World Whiskies Awards judge, established Magny International Co. Ltd. in Taiwan in 2006, and has become a leading whisky importer and agent in the market. He has extended his business activities into China and Hong Kong, opening the 'Safe-Bubble & Malt' whisky bar in Hong Kong earlier this year. He also established Hua Yang International Exhibition Ltd as organisers of Whisky Live Taipei from 2009 to 2013 and Whisky Luxe Taipei from 2013, and in addition to whisky events he also hosted Beer Revolution in 2013 and 2014, promoting craft beer.

To meet the requirements of consumers in Taiwan, Eric hosted the first annual Whisky Luxe Taipei in 2013. Consumers experienced rare, high quality, limited whiskies, with the total value of those on offer being over £22,000. In 2015, the third annual Whisky Luxe Taipei expands yet further, with over fifty brands participating. In order to satisfy the thirst for whisky knowledge, Whisky Luxe Taipei will invite brands to hold masterclasses at which guests will have the chance to taste very special, limited edition whiskies.

With the aim of promoting knowledge and the spirit of the cocktail, the first annual Taipei Bar Show will also be held on the same days as Whisky Luxe Taipei. With almost one hundred brands on show the Taipei Bar Show will host famous bartenders from the UK and Japan to share their experiences and perform their high cocktail skills on the stage.

Statement

Whisky Live and Whisky Luxe are international whisky brands which have been formally established and authorised by the UK Whisky Magazine's head office Paragraph Publishing Limited with both events exclusively operated by Hua Yang International Exhibition Ltd in Taiwan.

Hua Yang International Exhibition Ltd, organisers of Whisky Live Taipei and Whisky Luxe Taipei, have been notified by a number of whisky companies and consumers of the confusion that has arisen due to the similarity of a show named Whisky L. In case any confusion does arise, it should be made clear that all customers understand there is no association with Whisky L, which is a totally unrelated event.

Hua Yang has made great efforts in the promotion of the whisky market in Taiwan and as the host of Whisky Luxe 2015 sincerely welcomes all whisky brands and whisky lovers who are passionate about whisky to join the festival, and to look forward to achieving a new milestone in the whisky industry

in Taiwan.
