Cocktail of the week: Juleps with a twist

Look no further for your weekend cocktail fix
To kick off our first ‘cocktail of the week’, we’ve got a two-in-one for you: two tantalising twists on a Mint Julep from the Bardstown Bourbon Company, created by brand ambassador Samantha Montgomery. Perfect for the warmer weather coming up, these recipes offer you a choice of cherry and thyme or strawberry and basil; either way, these are just the thing for the weekend ahead.

Cherry-Thyme Julep

Ingredients

60ml (2 oz) Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion #4
15ml (0.5 oz) rich syrup (to make this yourself, use a mix of white sugar and water in a 2:1 ratio)
2 sprigs of thyme
2 fresh cherries

Method

Strip all the leaves from a sprig of thyme into a Julep tin. Add rich syrup and cherries, and muddle. Add the Bourbon, stir, and add crushed ice. Garnish with thyme and cherry.

Strawberry-Basil Smash (Julep, if you prefer)

Ingredients

60ml (2 oz) Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion #4
15ml (0.5 oz) rich syrup (to make this yourself, use a mix of white sugar and water in a 2:1 ratio)
3 basil leaves
2 strawberries
