The Glasgow Distillery Company has announced the launch of the fourth and final expression in its Prometheus series.

Prometheus 30 Years Old is a Speyside single malt whisky which has been matured in sherry butts and packs a peaty punch.

Bottled at cask strength of 51.8% ABV and non-chill filtered, the expression has been limited to a run of 544 bottles. Each comes in a decanter with a heavyweight metal stopper in a presentation box with an individually numbered booklet.

The distillery says the whisky offers hints on the nose of toffee, raisin, toasted spice, dark chocolate and dried orange zest. On the palate, a vanilla biscuit opening is followed by orange marmalade, spicy fruit cake and hints of walnut, with a long sweet smoky finish.

Its launch follows the sell-out success of previous expressions Prometheus 26 and 27 Years Old, and the more recent 28 Years Old, which was limited to 888 bottles. The series has received a number of awards, including from the San Francisco Spirits Competition in 2017 and the International Whisky Competition in 2016.

Liam Hughes, CEO and co-founder of Glasgow Distillery, believes Prometheus 30 Years Old is "the finest expression in the range".

“We are immensely proud of the success of the Prometheus series over the last five years. The launch of Prometheus 30 is a celebration but also a bittersweet moment as it is the very last expression in the series,” he said.

Prometheus 30 Years Old 70cl is available to buy from the Glasgow Distillery website, priced at £1,250.
