Tasting notes

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Tart summer fruits: redcurrants, blackcurrants. In the greenhouse: tomatoes and floral notes hiding behind heather honey and mild oak. Dried apricots and sultanas.
Palate: Spicy and warming. Peppers, chillies, nutmeg and cloves. Candied fruits. Strawberry jam. Green apples, elderberry and brine. Digestive biscuits dunked in tea.
Finish: Warming peppers and chillies, with citrus and brine, before tea returns.
Comment: Skilfully assembled. Elemental. Swaggers with attitude and character.

Taster Laura Foster

Nose: A real acetone-y pear drop note dominates here. Banana-flavoured fudge, crème pâtissière and pastry vie for attention in the background. Adding water brings out a mandarin core.
Palate: Lovely balance, this is taut yet full-flavoured. All the aromas play out on the palate which turns rather spicy and peppery.
Finish: The initial exuberance settles down into a warming embrace, accompanied by banana custard.
Comment: A youthful drop that dances across the tongue.
