Tasting notes

Taster Doug McIvor

Nose: Heady, beeswaxy, polished oak, rich vanilla and a trace of lavender.
Palate: Bursting with prickling peppery spice. Toffeeish and salty intensities infuse the grains.
Finish: Lingering with sweet, raisiny, smoky and salty outcrops.
Comment: A ripe age for bourbon but this one shows great balance as the wood has not dominated.

Taster Michael Jackson

Nose: Clean, rich, rummy. Later flowery dryness (rose petals, rosewood, violets?).
Palate: Juicy. Raisiny. Spicy (nutmeg?). Hard toffee. Vanilla, of course. Tobacco-like. Complex.
Finish: Firm. Smooth. Endless echoes of flavour. Hugely warming.
Comment: I especially like bourbons when they are big and robust. This is both hearty and complex. A wonderful winter warmer.
