Tasting notes
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Deep, sweet dark chocolate and hazelnut gelato with dried dates, toasted pine nuts and powdered cinnamon, with lifted aromas of honey and fennel. A dusty element, oat cake.
Palate: Dark chocolate and chilli flakes give way to a satchel carrying a tobacco box, pencil shavings and a pair of oat cakes in honey.
Finish: Dry cocoa powder, black pepper and cigar spice, with a hint of sour cherry.
Comment: My sweet tooth really loves the chocolaty sweetness, but this is balanced perfectly by the spicy dryness.
8.4
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Cocoa nibs, melted dark chocolate and nuts. Hints of lemon zest and gentle spices, paprika and cumin. Also a grainy note like a malted drink.
Palate: Rich and complex, oak is very present as is the chocolate. That grain note comes through too with agave nectar ramping up the sweet side.
Finish: Drying on those gentle spices.
Comment: Sweet and savoury perfectly balanced, and that dry spice finish is something lovely.
