Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: A fantastic nose with some really great age on it. This gives some wafts of black cherry, red apples, oak sawdust and a tiny, tiny hint of smoke.
Palate: The oak comes to the fore, with cinnamon spices, nutmeg and just a touch of clove. The oak spices develop showing off real age and complexity to this beautifully balanced product.
Finish: Great blending work, with good complexity and fab cherry and oak notes.
Comment: Shows off why whisky is aged in oak, all caught at the right time.
9.3
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Moist, sweet, plumy fruitcake, treacle and dusty spices. Walnut, almond, sweet pecan. Becomes sweet, almost liqueur-like.
Palate: Crisp and less sweet thanks to the ABV. Armagnac-esque dried fruit, citrus and dusty sherry spices along with a touch of heather, walnut and juicy dried dates.
Finish: Very long, juicy and vibrant with lingering dried fruit and sherry spices. Finally there’s a touch of grain to remind you that it is a blend.
Comment: I need a big cigar, my slippers and a leather armchair next to a roaring fire to appreciate this!
