Tasting notes
Taster   Neil Ridley
Nose: Rich, toasted orange-infused sponge cake, some complex malt and a wonderfully integrated delicate waft of vanilla oak. Superb and inviting.
Palate: Drier than one expected, but hugely complex. The zest is there, coconut and orange creams, creamy fudge and that underlying old oak polished with a touch of linseed oil.
Finish: Long and inviting, with some subtle citrus fruit notes.
Comment: What a superb starting point. Complex, fruit notes and laden with fudge sweetness, with a restrained dryness.
8.9
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Plenty of sweet and herbal sherry with a touch of luscious, lightly baked plum, prune, malt and walnuts. A touch of buttery vanilla lies beneath and the aromas become a little manurey and quite nutty with time.
Palate: Soft and silky, if a little bland with sweet dried fruit, liquorice and treacle. Robust and clunky with building coffeed tannins.
Finish: Good spicy, mouth-watering finish with lingering herbal notes along with a touch of smoke and minerals.
Comment: It really comes alive on the finish as those spices kick in.
