Tasting notes
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Baked apples, light floral honey. Heavy on the vanilla. Toffee fudge. Dried apricots and mixed herbs. Pleasant, but timid – needs agitating to get the aromas going.
Palate: Far more vibrant and velvety. A lovely maltiness on show with red fruits, Custard Cream biscuits. Vanilla milkshake with honey and cinnamon. Dried apricots and sultanas.
Finish: Disappointingly short, given the palate, but fruity, spicy and uncomplicated.
Comment: Very pleasant and easy-drinking – but not one for much scrutiny.
7.8
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Very floral – specifically jasmine, lilies and camomile – with delicate white pepper spice and fresh sawdust. Dark chocolate-covered candied orange peel and a metallic whiff.
Palate: Silky-smooth with richer flavours than the nose. Creamy milk chocolate bar balanced with cocoa and walnut cake. White pepper and spicy rye bread develop on the mid-palate.
Finish: Medium length, with drying black loose-leaf tea-like tannins.
Comment: A delicate drop overtaken by tannin, someone left that tea a bit too long.
