Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: High cask influence: walnut whip, caramelised fruit sugars, ginger buns, woodsmoke. Deep, resinous with clove and a little cardamom.
Palate: Immediate tannic grip with quite substantial spirit cutting through the oak: fungal, dark chocolate, chestnut purée. Not too tannic.
Finish: Ripe, old, cassis.
Comment: A lot of cask here but strangely subtle for such a heavy beast.
Taster   Arthur Motley
Nose: Earthy mossiness with a fruit; oranges or raisins. Liquorice bark and furniture polish. Pine and some mustiness.
Palate: Viscous then drying. Some cognac-like fruitiness and aniseed.
Finish: Tannins by the ton. Tree bark.
Comment: Too woody for me, but some people will adore its obvious 'old-ness'.
