Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Highly concentrated nose: black truffle, soy sauce and tamarind, roasted tea. Orange peel. Exotic and leathery with massive levels of whisky rancio mixed with a rooty vetiver note.
Palate: Polished, smoky. Prunes and earth. It could be an ancient Armagnac. Obvious age and big tannic grip but there's a hint of berry fruits.
Finish: Lengthy and gripping.
Comment: Like drinking an ancient forest and not to everyone's taste (or pocket) but it has character and power.
8.9
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Earthy. Moss. Oak. Church bench. Exotic wood. Beeswax. Burnt wood. Molasses. Complex and deep. Lots of sherry wood.
Palate: Sweet and bitter. Complex. Exotic fruit. Guava and passion fruit. But oak tends to play the boss.
Finish: A sweet aftertaste. Sultanas.
Comment: An old whisky which has stayed too long in wood. It was certainly beaming a good 10 years ago.
