Tasting notes
Taster   Joe Bates
Nose: Quite medicinal aromas at first, but they’re not hugely assertive or unpleasant. There are also some gentle smoky notes too.
Palate: Burning straw and dry cigar smoke flavours create quite a hot palate initially.
Finish: The finish is medium length, quite dry and tannic with a lingering smokiness.
Comment: Definitely not a smoke bomb this whisky, but a drop or two of water might be appreciated by some to tame the relatively high strength.
8.4
Taster   Gavin D. Smith
Nose: Earthy peat lurks behind honey and peaches in syrup. Barley and ginger snaps.
Palate: Vibrant fresh fruit notes, sweet wood smoke and prominent black pepper. A squeeze of lemon and some brittle toffee.
Finish: Medium in length, more pepper, plus aniseed and mild smoky tannins.
Comment: An accomplished mainland peated single malt.
