Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Hello Islay, peat fires, smoked kippers and sooty butter. Warming tyres and smoked meats. But there is a fruit freshness here too, zesty, grilled pineapple and smoked almonds.
Palate: Gentle fruit notes and that zippy zesty aspect hits you at first then the smokeunfurls bringing a slight dryness and earthy quality. Well balanced.
Finish: Smoky and sweet.
Comment: A malt that has gone where no malt has gone before.

Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Peaty, phenolic. Warm tarmac after a summer shower. Tar lozenges (theFrench miner's lozenges). In the background, fishing nets. Sweet vanillanotes slowly creeping under the peat. A floral hint. Freesia. Fresh lemon juice.
Palate: Sweet and silky at first. Then the soot makes the texture crisp and dry. Maltysweetness. Lemon posset. Smoked cured fish. Fresh almonds.
Finish: The soot leaves way to creamy yogurt and mint. Salty feel.
Comment: Perfect balance. Hidden complexity.
