Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Moderately peaty, but the underlying sweet barley balances. Quite crisp and it reminds me of an un-coastal Caol Ila. With time some oily, coffeed malt and a slight floral note.
Palate: Shows more oily barley and sweet white fruit, but the gentle, earthy-peat moves in quickly. Sweet barley and malt counters. Pleasantly full with heather, gorse and honey on the middle.
Finish: Long and crisp with a slight saltiness. Lingering dry spice, peat and vanilla oak.
Comment: A textbook example of how to use peat without swamping the character of the spirit.

Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Lots of old leather and antique furniture. A classic nosing Scotch! Elements of beeswax and sour dough bread; great body and depth.
Palate: Hit of the old leather from the nose, creates a nice bed for cloves, star anise and vanilla to build on. The flavours are well integrated with a hint of distillery character.
Finish: Fresh pineapple juice with a hint of aniseed. Water brings out the oak spices.
Comment: A whisky that has taken on a fair amount of oak influence but a robust spirit has fought back to give a fairly well rounded end product.
