Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Dense and oily with dusty pollen, thick set honey and barley. Robust and full with developing leafy, herbal notes and a touch of maturing fruit. With time the honey becomes lightly floral.
Palate: Full, barley with some dense but unobtrusive oak. Mouth-coating thick set honey and fruit follows giving it an unctuous mouth-feel. A touch of nippy spices balance adroitly.
Finish: Long and stony with a lovely, fresh mineral and citrus (lime, mandarin) finish.
Comment: A classic, full-bodied Spey, worth buying for the finish alone!
8.2
Taster   Charles Montanaro
Nose: Warming, pine heavy, lots of green – surprisingly fresh and verdant while remaining musty and inviting.
Palate: Palate: Starting out with honeycomb and pronounced herbal notes straight into apples, pear, maybe some peach. Surprisingly tannic and oily considering the apparent lightness.
Finish: A lot of dryness and bitterness surrounded by these green and nutty notes with little complexity.
Comment: Surprised the flavour did not follow up as expected on the intriguing nose, yet there is something which keeps me coming back for more.
