Tasting notes
Taster   Gavin D. Smith
Nose: Cinnamon, pepper, ginger, and bright tropical fruits, with slightly savoury spice notes.
Palate: Big zesty fruits, lively oak, vanilla, mango and more ginger. Finally a hint of coal tar.
Finish: Long, spicy, and ultimately mildly metallic.
Comment: Intriguing combination of aromas and flavours. Good to see a producer introducing a whisky with such an advanced age statement into Travel Retail.
8.6
Taster   Joe Bates
Nose: Meaty Bovril-like aromas on the nose; some cereal notes too along with the faintest trace of sulphur.
Palate: Intensely honeyed flavour is the key character here, but also cigar smoke, oak spice and even chilli.
Finish: Dry, very long and quite fiery.
Comment: A quirky whisky, which surprises at every turn. It grows on you and a drop of water tones down its curry-like heat and reveals depth and complexity.
