Tasting notes
Taster   Jim Murray
Nose: Roast chestnut, malty, sherryish. Brisk and brittle, impressive.
Palate: Shows at first a biscuity-sweetness. Big and malty while the sherry remains slightly subdued.
Finish: Quite long but now oaky as the malt and sherry seem played out.
Comment: Far more complex than the standard Glenkinchie. Quite intriguing stuff, not least because it is best very slightly chilled.
8.5
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Light, polished oak. Lemon, cinnamon and ginger.
Palate: Assertive flavours. Sweet then suddenly dry, salty, and nutty.
Finish: Long, echoing interplay of crystal-sugar sweetness and oaky dryness. Soothing.
Comment: As a relatively restrained whisky, Glenkinchie stands up well to the amontillado finish.
