Tasting notes

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Massive fruitgasm – redcurrants, raspberry jam, and treacle. Filling of a Victoria sponge. Water brings this into classic dried fruit territory, executed impressively.
Palate: Chewy, aniseed, fennel and peppermint – diminishes with water, revealing raisins, dried apricots, Morello cherries and marmalade. A Speyside/Bourbon hybrid.
Finish: Long; maple syrup, tannic oak, nutmeg and peppermint.
Comment: Youthful, but confident and full of flavour. Good casks here.

Taster Laura Foster

Nose: Raspberries, wood varnish, pepper. Fragrant wood – both freshly cut and charred, incense, grilled peaches scattered with hazelnuts, and their pits too.
Palate: A pleasing plasticky, chewy texture to this. High ABV is evident, even with a dash of water. A dry whisky with Frazzles and barbecue rub characters, milk chocolate-covered peanuts and slightly unripe nectarines.
Finish: Chilli-sprinkled wood varnish.
Comment: Big, brash and ballsy. The Donald Trump of whiskies?!
