Tasting notes
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Intense sherry gorgeously expressed – figs and plum jam, balsamic vinegar and tiramisu. Cigar boxes, corks and pencil shavings. Blackberry jam, orange marmalade and elderberries. Then some nutmeg and chicory drink.
Palate: Elderberry and port-like, with sticky toffee pudding. Dried fruits – raisins, figs, dates. Ground coffee and bitter chocolate.
Finish: Wood heat, not tannic, layers of hedgerow fruits in a jam.
Comment: I swooned a little at this. Magnificent. Such balance, such depth!

Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Mushroomy forest floor, polished wood, coffee and walnut, raisins, orange peel and oily gears. Duck consommé and Madeira. Liquorice root, powder ginger and cinnamon.
Palate: Unctuous with dried fruit. Chocolate with prunes, dried blueberries, cinnamon, liquorice and spicy black pepper. Rolled pancakes in acacia honey. Leather elbow patches.
Finish: Clove and cinnamon, oil dipped with ciabatta bread.
Comment: A top-drawer dram. Body, power, complexity and interesting development.
