Tasting notes
Taster   Neil Ridley
Nose: Organic/rooty note at first, with pickled artichoke and a touch of peppery rye. Very dark chocolate note, blood orange zest, some smoked nuts and a blast of toasted wood.
Palate: A mighty fine mix of rich dark chocolate, Bourbon marinated cherries, more orange zest all swirled with a cinnamon stick.
Finish: Very dry, with woody spice leaving the palate tingling, remnants of the dark chocolate.
Comment: Clearly, it's big whisk(e)y month. This is about as wintery as they come - lock the door, make a Manhattan and curl up by the fire.
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Exotic wood with a touch of incense. Thyme and rosemary. Very Fragrant. Cedarwood. A meaty note. Grilled sausage. Opening on dried sour fruit. Cranberry. Candied orange. Some complexity.
Palate: Sweet and balsamic. Liquorice (the sweet root). Dried fruit comes again.
Finish: Sweet with an astringent edge.
Comment: An old Bourbon? The nose is very interesting. The palate maybe a little behind. Avoid water.
