Tasting notes

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Smoke with damson and chocolate. Red onion chutney. Water makes it creamier, with jam tarts, mixed peel, glacé cherries.
Palate: Brilliant texture. Hedgerow fruits, redcurrants, maple syrup, a touch of sloe gin. Water makes it sing. Strawberry jam on toast, Chinese Five Spice, cloves and tobacco.
Finish: Hot, good mouth- feel. Autumn fruits.
Comment: Crazy good. Smokier that Volkswagen emissions tests. Outrageously flavoursome whilst impressively balanced.

Taster Laura Foster

Nose: Nuts and brown butter sauce. Cooked figs. Creosote. Wet tarmac. Burnt caramel. Orange wheels. Forest floor.
Palate: Thick, dark, burning oil field smoke. Sticky pine resin and satsuma peel. A mocha with shots of toffee and hazelnut syrups, topped with cream.
Finish: Long, with plenty more of that sweet mocha, then some milk chocolate right at the end.
Comment: Bold, sweet and smoky. With added rocks.
