Tasting notes
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Nutty (almonds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, unsalted peanuts) with orange oils and a coffee granule streak. Reminds me of oloroso sherry. An unexpected hint of turmeric too.
Palate: Velvety and then plasticky in texture, with lots going on. Soft red berries, orange sauce, chocolate Bourbon biscuits and cocoa powder, loads of nuts again, spicy fresh red chillis and ginger.
Finish: Lingering. Bitter nuts take over, accompanying date sponge.
Comment: I’m totally nuts about you.

Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Bright and sharp, leaning towards red fruits. Bakewell tart with golden syrup. Sultanas, with dried apricots. Jamaican ginger cake!
Palate: Muscovado sugar, with toffee apples and sultanas. Strawberry liqueur. Cinnamon, dried sour cherries. Golden rum with a blackcurrant sharpness. Bitter oranges and wood bring perfect alignment.
Finish: Increasingly silky, with hot pepper and muscovado sugar.
Comment: A proper old-school whisky, fantastic maturation unleashes sophisticated flavours.
