Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Very balsamic. Eucalyptus, cedar. Praline, caramelised pecan nuts. Overcooked plum pudding. In the back, a meaty note like Oxo cubes. Séville orange peel. The alcohol is well mastered.
Palate: Surprisingly sweet. Cooked plums, orange marmalade. A hint of liquorice.
Finish: Dry, lingering oak but still gentle. A rubbery echo.
Comment: There is more on the nose than on the palate. Fairly young maybe?
7.5
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: High alcohol. Robust. Orange, dried fruits, Dundee cake. Big, resinous with lacquer-like notes. Some sulphur.
Palate: Very aggressive, even brutal, when neat. Water brings out a scented quality, glacé cherries, tobacco. Much better with water.
Finish: Tight. Resin.
Comment: This is all about power, show and bravado and misses out on elegance depth and nuance. Some will love it.
