Tasting notes
Taster   Jim Murray
Nose: Suet and sultanas liberally sprinkled with vanilla.
Palate: Dry and spicy start with wave upon wave of encroaching oak.
Finish: More vanilla but some pleasant malty tones stretch out the length to a surprising degree.
Comment: A pleasant and well-measured oldie without blemish but perhaps lacking complexity before the excellent finale.
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: The faintest hint of peat, quickly developing to big heather-honey, then lots of berry-fruit and raisins.
Palate: Toffeeish. Apricots. That typical Aberlour nutmeg. Crème brûlée. Anise.
Finish: Spicy, with a hint of lemon. Vanilla. Oak.
Comment: Had I not known that it was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels. I would have guessed that there was some sherry.
