Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Espresso coffee, walnut leaves/pickled walnut and dense cacao mixed with rosin and old leather. There's some sweetness behind all of this.
Palate: Definitely towards the lashing leather side. A dram that takes you deep into an old wood: old bark, wet earth, meat stock but there's still somehow some sweetness fighting off the darkness.
Finish: Tight.
Comment: A huge beast of a dram but still sufficient distillery character there.
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Big sherry. Cedar wood. Antique furniture. Molasses. Candied chestnuts. Eucalyptus. Pine needle. Vetiver root. Roasted coffee beans. Opens on earthy notes. Like being in a cognac 'paradis'
Palate: As expected, lots of wood. A very lively crispness. The bitterness changes into dried fruit and spices.
Finish: Warm, lingering.
Comment: That old timer has surprisingly kept a high strength and a vibrant character. Oak is overwhelming but in an elegant way. That could be an old cognac.
