Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Slightly dusty, like an old attic, but shows good maturity. Pine, cake mix, Weetabix, allspice, clove. A polished oak quality. This improves in the glass.
Palate: Sweet to start moving immediately into red fruit, blueberry juice then the malty nuttiness takes over. Good depth and and well balanced.
Finish: Bran muffin.
Comment: An underrated malt. Check it out.
7.8
Taster   Arthur Motley
Nose: Icing sugar, fruit and breakfast cereal. Orange bitters, Demerara and banana. With water it becomes doughier, like banana bread. Almonds.
Palate: Silken, sweet then drying and dusty. Difficult to pick out distinct flavours.
Finish: A buttery, corn-like graininess.
Comment: I was surprised to discover that this is sold as a sherry-matured bottling...where is that sherry cask character?
