Tasting notes
Taster   Peter Mulryan
Nose: A stunning assault of Demerera sugar, roasted nuts and fruity yoghurt.
Palate: Very sweet and juicy, then dried apricots before moving on to rich fruitcake.
Finish: A tart, dark marmalade tingle.
Comment: This whiskey has changed quite a bit in the last few years. It's now less subtle, more forthright, but no less delicious.
8.5
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Full, rich and woody. Light spiciness, varnish, toffee, orange peel. Good mature notes: overripe fruit, spruce, spent firework. Old...too old?
Palate: Wood has strong influence. Some sweet dried fruits, amontillado-like, roasted almond. A touch winey, then the wood firms a little.
Finish: Biscuity, dusty, splintery.
Comment: It's balanced but it lacks the vibrancy of the 16 Years Old.
