Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Oak and smoke, this has a great balance of wood notes and peat smoke. A leather chair by a burning peat fire in a library.
Palate: The smoke and oak is complimented by red fruits, mainly cherry and damson, with some elements of cocoa powder and strawberry jam. Of course there is smoke, too. Pipe tobacco this time.
Finish: Slightly bitter, long and lingering. Back to our leather armchair and peat fire.
Comment: A glorious dram let down by a slight hint of bitterness on the back. Still a high scorer though.

Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Huge, primal gobs of gritty and spicy Oloroso. Manure with chunky malt and subtle peat. Lightly smoked and meaty with late hints of crystallised orange and violet.
Palate: Gritty Oloroso, dried fruit and coffee. Tannic, but softened by the treacle. Subtly peated with prune and dried grape. The alcohol is well integrated and balances the sweetness.
Finish: Long and citric with the sooty peat pushing through the sherry. Lingering dried fruit, treacle and coffee.
Comment: Impressive sherry monster. Raw but well-balanced.
