Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: A little spirity at first but then plenty of dark rye bread comes through. Gravalax, some herbal cough sweets and fresh gingerbread mix –vanilla, powdered ginger, raisins and butter.
Palate: Huge and bold, coats the palate with that gingerbread mix, a touch of molassas and sugar. A gentle waft of smoke.
Finish: Mouthwatering freshness and a little warming spice kick.
Comment: Another unusual whisky, but in a good way. Makes you take your time and think about the layers of complexity as you try to figure them out.

Taster Neil Ridley

Nose: Rye sits alongside some cherryade, a light vanilla note and a waft of menthol.
Palate: Rich and mouth coating, there is a bold raisin/dried fruit sweetness, with a lovey rich soft brown sugar note. With water, a dried ginger note battles with some sponge cake. Now there's a sight to behold.
Finish: Vanilla fudge meets light cigar smoke, with a touch of more robust dried fruit.
Comment: Hard to pin this one down. One moment, it's all Kentucky's finest. Next it wants to head to Jerez. I'm intrigued...
