Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Typical Mortlach meatiness with soft ripe banana, bourbon creams, burnt toffee and smoke. In time a sulphury note and some mustiness.
Palate: Starts lightly honeyed then deepens into those roasting tin/meat reduction flavours with a peaty drive. Wood is slightly abrasive.
Finish: Hot, chewy then smoke.
Comment: Considerably less concentrated than other Mortlachs on the market.
8.5
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Leafy. Green. Slightly spirity.
Palate: Nutty. Chewy. Mint humbugs.
Finish: Minty. Fragrant. Smoky oaky.
Comment: Enjoyable, with an appropriate touch of earthy rawness, but not as statuesque as this elegant whisky can be.
