Tasting notes
Taster   Joel Harrison
Nose: Deep, rich coffee notes, wax candles and smouldering wood fires. Hessian and incense sticks give this the aroma of a monk stirring a hot pot over a fire.
Palate: At full strength this is very drinkable. Thick and oily with smoke, toffee, vanilla, red apple. Think of a toffee apple on bonfire night. Some meaty body to this too.
Finish: Smooth, sweet, smoky. The finish lingers on.
Comment: This is a wonderful cask selection for a smoky, meaty, oily dram with real oak influence on it.
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Dusty, mocha laced slightly phenolic peat, brine, manure, earth and crisp barley. Fresh and deep with tarry treacle. With time it becomes pretty stinky (in a good way!)
Palate: Malty with dark treacle, vanilla and wood spice. Honey and sweet barley lighten the middle and the dusty peat and salt appear.
Finish: Long, salty and mouth-watering with lovely, lingering dry and sweet peat, manure and violets. The oak bitters a little at the death.
Comment: A lovely character if you like a good chunk of manure with your malt. Funnily enough, I do!
