Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Citric and grainy, wheat flakes and herbal rye-like notes. Young and intense with saline astringency. Sultana and white grape. A touch of toffee coated banana. Water brings out fragrant honey and soft barley.
Palate: Tart and astringent, herbal rye-like notes and menthol. Oak and fleshy fruit sit beneath, the alcohol masks any further development. Water emphasises light toffee and honey but there is less herbal character.
Finish: Intense, dry, mouth-watering, herbal; menthol along with hints of heather and coffee.
Comment: Water makes it easier to drink.
Taster   Sara Smith
Nose: Mid-sweet liquorice, Jamaica ginger cake, and a little creamy cola. Rolled oats and cereal on top.
Palate: Very warm, with solid grain and wood from the outset, highlighted by vanilla and nutty sherry. Even with water, there’s a peppery texture and warmth, continues long after the flavour has dissipated.
Finish: Chewy wood and vanilla, which develops into a malty bitterness with a touch of heather. At the very end, there was a slight bubble gum note.
Comment: A warming and cosy whisky with a pleasant nose of cereal and cakey gingerbread.
